Margot lived at Brighton outside Melbourne, in houses called Little Rossmore & Big Rossmore. When about 8, she stayed with Grandmother in Brighton when her parents went to England for about 6 months. Next door to Grandmother's was Everist Comport (aka Rist) who was about same age and went to same school (partners in crime ). Rist went to work in a bank and married a French lady. His elder brother, John married Margot's Auntie Ruth. Ruth died of TB at 34.

About 1918 moved to a rented house in Glenferry then she went with parents to England for a few months on first boat (Maria) after WW1 because her father had to sort out affairs of his late father Robert Nichol. On return boat, Margot had a nanny (because of behavior on outward journey) who became a chiropodist in Melbourne. Went to live in Toorak at Roosmore in Lancle Road and stayed until 1929 when the cloth import/wool export business failed (Wall Street Crash). Also dealt in fabrics from Far East. Went to Clyde School at Mount Macedon and became head girl. Met Sadie at the school and became close friends. Many years later Sadie died at Rossmore, Frinton while visiting Margot.

Parents divorced in 1929 and Margot went to live with Doris in Melbourne suburbs. Margot had to forgo her place to study architecture because of lack of money and trained to be nurse. Doris went to live in Thirza's cottage in Belgrave and then Margot bought Doris a cottage in Belgrave.

Uncle (Little) Bob (her father's Australian 'cousin') owned and farmed Beckwith Court, about 75,000 acres of sheep station. Square house with verandahs and pine trees in garden. See recent photos in scrapbook. After Sunday lunch, he 'trimmed' the trees with his rifle. Very good wool.

Her Australian grandfather's sister had a son called John. Sent to army by mother and then opened a florists outside the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. Highly successful.

Pete and Margot lived in Frinton in a house called Rossmore. After Pete died, Margot moved to a smaller house, Alvor, where she lived for about 20 years until she needed care when she moved to The Lodge in Walton-on-the-Naze. During her time in Alvor, Margot was the Lady President of Frinton Golf Club and played a hole-in-one when she was in her 70s. Margot died in Colchester hospital after breaking her leg in a fall at the Lodge.
