Wife of Aaron Thomas Dooley. She is buried beside him, but has a separate stone. Malinda was the daughter of Archibald and Elizabeth West. She was the youngest of six children listed in the 1850 census: Washington, age 20; Sarah, age 18; Polly A., age 16; Harriet, age 14; Madison, age 11; and Melinda, age 8. On June 28, 1860, Malinda married Aaron Dooley. She is listed with him in the 1860 census which was taken on August 18. Also listed were his two daughters, Nancy, age 6, and Mary, age 4, from his prior marriage to Elizabeth Dooley. They were in Marion Township, Hendricks County. Aaron (listed as Thomas) and Malinda had two of their own children listed in the 1870 census: Levi, age 4, and James, age 1. They also had a daughter named Lurena, probably after Levi, but Lurena died in 1867 and is not listed in any census record. In 1880, Malinda and Aaron still had Levi and James living at home. They had 4 more children over the last decade: Lilly R, age 7; Ira L, age 6; Daisy A, age 4; and William T, age 1.
Indiana Birth records show a daughter born to Malinda and Aaron on July 26, 1882. Her first name is not on the record. It may have been Elizabeth. A son, Virgil, was born on August 6, 1884 and died on January 20, 1896. He shares his mother's gravestone. Malinda had a daughter named Ethel Mae on April 17, 1886. Malinda died in Marion Township which is the area where New Winchester is located.
