PRAIRIE GROVE, Jan 1. Gipson Hendricks, pioneer resident of Washington county and Confederate veteran, passed away Sunday night at the honre of his daughter, Mrs. B. J. Mizner, at Prairie Grove, at the age of 98 years, after an illness of about six weeks.
Mr. Hendricks was born November 24, 1830, in Washington county, where he lived practically all his life. He married Sidney West in I860. Eleven children were born, five dying in infancy. Surviving are Mrs. B. J. Mizner and Mrs. Tom Asher of
Praiirie Grove; George Hendricks, Fort Smith; Will Hendricks, Ketchum Okla.; R. W. Hendricks, Fayetteville; J, G. Hendricks, formerly of Fayetteville, now living in South America. A number of grandchildren also survive, including Glenn and Guy Hendricks of Fayetteville. Mr. Hendricks was a member of the Church of Christ, Cemetery St.. Fayetteville for 40 years. He was baptized by the Rev, Mr. Hines. During his service in the Civil War he was a member of Co. K, 34th Arkansas.
