Mary Edna Bivins, 92, of Carlsbad died Saturday at Guadalupe Medical Center.
Mrs. Bivins came to Carlsbad in 1949 from Cloudcroft. She was an accomplished organist and pianist, serving as pianist for Carlsbad and Cavern City Kiwanis Clubs and Rotary Club. She also entertained thousands at the annual Kiwanis Pancake Day. She was the first woman member of the Southwest District of Kiwanis International. Mrs. Bivins was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad, the Carlsbad Rotary Club, the Carlsbad Antique Club and American Association of Retired Persons. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two nephews, Paul Brown of Carlsbad and Nevin Smith of Fisher, Ind.; one niece, Reba Weaver of Fisher, Ind.; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Duce and Ruth Bivins of Waggoner, Okla.
