Bailey W. Maull Obituary from The Salisbury Times (Salisbury, Maryland) Posted 25 Oct 2012 by dogstar72
Lewes - The six sons of Bailey W. Maull Sr. served as pallbearers yesterday at the funeral of their father who died early Tuesday in Beebe Hospital here. The rites were held in Melson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. William Leishman officiating. Burial was in the Presbyterian churchyard. The 78-year-old scion of one of the oldest colonial families of Sussex County had been failing the past six months. A collateral ancestor, Dr. Joseph Maull, a practicing physician in Broadkiln Hundred, became the 34th Governor of Delaware in 1846.
A farmer of 38 years, in his later years he lived at Lewes, and worked for the Fish Products Co. here and at Fort Miles during World War II. He had been assistant custodian at the Lewes School the last five years. He was a past worthy master of Henlopen Grange of Lewes, and a former steward of the Delaware State Grange.
His six surviving sons are Frank, Bailey W. Jr., John and David M., all of Lewes; Robert of Rehoboth, and Alton H. of Milford. He also leaves two brothers, Joseph and Eugene Maull of Lewes, and five sisters; Mrs. Ella Potter, Miss Clara Maull, Miss Sara Maull, Lewes; Miss Ethel Maull, Philadelphia; and Mrs. Emily Gough or Reedville, Va.
