Raymond J. Hickman(1924 - 2012)
Raymond John Hickman of Ocean View, DE passed away at the age of 88 on December 19th, 2012 after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his father Hugh H. Hickman, his mother Edna Shepherd Hickman and his brother H. Harbison Hickman. He was born in Philadelphia and moved to Ocean View as a young boy. He graduated from Lord Baltimore High School and then proudly served in WWII in the Third Infantry Division of the US Army. He was wounded in Anzio, Italy and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Upon returning from the war, he attended the University of Delaware and met the love of his life, Sally West. They were married in 1949 and settled in Bethany Beach where he joined his father and brother building homes in the Bethany area as Hugh H. Hickman and Sons. He and his wife Sally began Hickman Real Estate which they owned for thirty years. After retirement, he and Sally moved to Ocean View, DE and Fort Myers Beach, FL where he enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, golfing and entertaining his family and friends.
Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally West Hickman, his daughters, Laura Lee Hickman, Jane Tribbitt, Nancy Rhodes; his son-in-laws Timothy Tribbitt and John Timothy Rhodes and his beloved grandchildren, Tyler Tribbitt and fiancé Abbe Miller, Matthew Tribbitt and John West Rhodes.

Dr Harrison was only two when his father was killed in a train accident in Vicksburg, MS. His mother was unable to care for them due to her own issues, but his maternal grandmother, Louisa Nailer Barnes and his aunt Elise Barnes Hullum raised him and his sister, Hattie Louise Harrison.
He joined the military in 1910 and married Sidney Yancey West in 1913. They had seven children: Louis Hullum Harrison, Carolyne Glover Harrison Smith, Robert Peyton Harrison III, Charles Floyd West Harrison, Sidney Alson "Nick" Harrison, Nathan Luce Harrison, Sr, and Robert Bruce Carson Harrison.
Dr Harrison was a veterinary doctor and had his own vet practice in Georgia. Aside from Mississippi and Georgia, the family also lived in Virginia, and Tennessee.

Dr. Robert Preston Harrison, 57, of 622 Russell Street, died yesterday morning in Veterans Hospital, Johnson City. His death followed a long illness. Dr. Harrison, a veterinarian, had lived in the Bristol area for the past 27 years. He was a native of Vicksburg, Miss. Surviving are his widow and the following children: Louis, Nathan, Charles Harrison, Abin,gdon, Va.| Robert P. Harrison, Jr.', Ann Arbor, Mich., Mrs. C. B.Smith, Kingsport, Tenn., and Nick Harrison. U. S. Army in Korea. Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
