Funeral services were held Monday, May 17, 1993 for Mary Estella Corsi West, who died May 13 in the St John's Hospital in Jackson, as a result of a fall, which broke her hip.
Stella was born Aug 1, 1902 in Afton to John Archiso and Jeannette McMenamy Corsi, the seventh in a family of 12 children. The first long distance telephone call from Star Valley was to Montpelier, to inform Archiso, who was in Montpelier for a load of freight, of the birth of his daughter.
Stella grew up on the family ranch in Etna. She married Homer (Tobe) W. West and they were the parents of three sons, Dale, Bill and Boyd. They lived the rest of their lives on their ranch in Grover.
Homer died Dec 31, 1961 and all three of her sons preceded her in death. Stella was a hard worker, an immaculate housekeeper and even in her later years, she would take care of her own lawn and keep the fences painted white. Many people commented on the neatness and beauty of their ranch.
She loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews dearly and they returned her love. No one ever left her place hungry and friends of her sons and grandchildren were her friends also.
She is survived by two sisters; Ruby Jensen, Grover; Marie Yeaman, LaBarge, WY; one brother Clarence Corsi, St George UT; three grandchildren, Lynn Moore, Evanston; Boyd West, Alpine, Tobe West, Grover and five great grandchildren; Landi, Davis, Audrey, Austin and William Tobe.
