John B. Wheeler, 87, Oklahoma City, passed away March 7, 1983. He was born November 2, 1895 in Brazos Texas. and came to Oklahoma City in the early 1940's. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base as an electrician after 12 years. Member of Del City Church of Christ, Army veteran of World War I, member of the American Legion, past Master of Del City Day Lodge No.547 AS&AM, member of Scottish Rite, Guthrie Consistory, past High Priest of Capitol Hill Chapter 101 of the Royal Arch Masons, member of Capitol Hill Council No.59, past Commander of Oklahoma Commandery No.3, Knights Templar; also a KYCH of York Rite, a 50-year member of Ancient Craft Masonry in the state of Oklahoma. Also a member of the Order of High Priesthood, member of the Order of Sword and Trowel, member of India Temple Shrine, member of Eastern Star, and a recipient of the Murrow Award, one of the highest awards in Ancient Craft Masonry.
Survived by his wife, Ethel of the home; two stepsons, Floyd Hennington of Harrah, and Marvin Hennington of Bethany; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, at the Bill Eisenhour S.E. Chapel with burial in Resthaven Cemetery.
