OCR text: Asheville Native Dies In Plane Crash ASPEN, Colo. John Quinn West III, 28, of Sardis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen H. Patterson of 86 Fairway Drive, Asheville, was killed in a private plane crash near here early Friday. Preliminary reports from rescue workers were that West was one of a party of six sons in the aircraft, which was caught in a snowstorm and crashed in mountainous terrain. It was reported late Friday that only one of the six had survived. West attended Asheville city schools and was graduate of Mars Hill College and Furman University. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Tuck of Sardis; two daughters. Amy, 2, and Christy, 1, and two brothers, Allen H. Patterson Jr. and Drew Crouch Patterson, both of Asheville. Funeral arrangements will be announced Saturday.

Born July 1, 1919 in Morganton, NC she was the daughter of W. Perry and Floy Crouch. She attended Meredith College and Blue Mountain College. She was a dedicated member as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon of Asheville's First Baptist Church. After retirement from Wachovia Bank she served six tours as a missionary in Togo, West Africa. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by both of her husbands, John Quinn West, Jr. and Allen Hobson Patterson; a son, John Quinn West, Ill; and two brothers: Robert P. Crouch and Daniel G. Crouch. She is survived by two sons: Allen Hobson "Chip" Patterson, wife, Denise of Winston-Salem, and Drew Crouch Patterson and wife, Kristi of Charlotte. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Amy Armstrong, Christy Johnson, Laura Patterson, Emily Patterson, Trent Patterson and Shawn Patterson and six great-grandchildren ; a brother, W. Henry Crouch; three sisters-in-law: Janice Crouch, Betty Featherstone, and Phoebe Crouch; a daughter-in-law Ruth Dabbs, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Lewis Memorial Park. Her Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Asheville, in Crouch Chapel.
