OCR text: GEORGE H. WEST OF FERGES DIES George H. West, 71, of Fecges, died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in Herrin Hospital. He was a retired miner and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of United Mine Workers Local 1776 and the Herrin American Legion Post. He was born Dec. 8, 1892 in Oneida, the son of William and Emily West. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Mrs. Betty Savoia of Chicago, Mrs. Jessie Kincaid of Flora and Mrs. Georgia Meake of Johnston City; a son, William of Johnston City; step children, Mrs. Hazel Graul and Mrs. Betty Bird, both of Herrin, Mrs. He en Moore and Mrs. Susie Avripas, both of Marion, Trom Trout of errin, and Jack Trout of icago; sisters, Mrs. Hattie Phillips of Herrin, Mrs. Arnie Fowler and Mrs. Nannie Mae Dobbs, both of Oneida, 31 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday at Johnson's Funeral Home, Herrin. Rev. Toney Jayne, pastor of Ferges Free Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in rin Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

OCR text: Mrs. Hattie Phillips, 74, of 1106 13 S. St., Herrin, died at 6.36 p.m. Wednesday Herrin Hospital. Born Nov. 14, 1895. Little Creek Tenn., she was the daughter of William and Emily West Laxton. A member of thFirst Baptist Church Herrin, she married Loy Phillips on May 8, 1915, Whitley Ky. He died June 17, 1936. Mrs. Phillips is survived by sons Harold of Grimsby, Ontario Canada, Horace of Avondale, Ariz., and Herbert at home, sisters Arnie Fowler and Nannie Mae Dobbs of Oenida, TN. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. A grandson Gregory Phillips, of Grimsby Ontario.
