OCR text: MRS. R. A. WEST DIED MONDAY End 1 Came Monday Night at the Home of Her Son, G. M. West Near Garden City. Mrs. Nannie West, widow of R. A. West, passed away at 9:30 o'clock Monday night at the home of her son, Garland M West, three miles south of Garden City. Mrs. West had been bedfast for several months and her death had been expected momentarily for the past several weeks. Mrs. West had been holding her own despite her advanced age until a few months ago when the unexpected death of her daughter, Miss Etta, occurred, but since that time her condition failed rapidly. Nancy Ann West was born January 14, 1851 at Boonville, and departed this life at the home of her son, Garland, on June 3, 1940 at the age of 89 years, months and 2 days.
She was the daughter of David C. and Nancy E. Byler and one of a family of thirteen children, all of whom have preceded her in death. She received her education in the public schools at Boonville, and on June 1, 1871 she was united in marriage to Russel A. West who passed away on November 24, 1926. To this union were born two children, Henrietta Vea West and Garland Murray West. She confessed faith in Christ early in life at Dayton, Missouri under the ministry of Rev. Calvin her Hedrick and later transferred church at Garden City, where she membership to the Christian served as a faithful member M. Dunham, Lee's Summit; Mrs. C. T. Oglesby, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Oberweather and Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rood, Butler; Charles L. Argenbright, Grandview; Mr. and C. imberlin, Mrs. J. W. Sextan, Winton Sexton and Miss Lou B. Bowlin, Harrisonville. throughout the remainder of her life. She has lived a life of service to this community residing in Garden City since 1904 where she moved from the farm south of Garden City. In her passing she leaves her son, Garland M. West Garden City, two grandchildren, Kathleen, Omaha, and Ivan M. West, Wichita, and two Richard Lee West and Rebecca Louise West of Wichita. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the Garden City Christian church at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Shelton of Inminister, and burial was in the dependence, a former Garden City Garden City cemetery. Rev. J. O. Coffman of Bucklin, also a former pastor of the Garden City church, was to have conducted in the service but was involved a motor car accident near Cameron started yesterday for morning, Garden City, and had after having to return home. Among the out of towners who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ivan West and son of Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Coe, Mrs. Hattie Helms and daughter, Miss Edith, Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Dunham and Mrs. A. CARD OF THANKS We thank our many friends for their assistance during the long illness of our mother and grandmother, Mrs. Nannie A. West, and for words sympathy and for the floral G. M. West and family.
