Isaac M. West, Jr. married Sarah Murphee. She was born in 1812 and died 25 Nov 1878. Isaac, with his brother Solomon, were the first of their familiy to come to Texas. In 1850, Isaac appears on the Census of Washington County, Texas with his wife and seven children (4 girls and 3 boys), ranging in age from 18 to 4. All were born in Tennessee except for the youngest, who was born in Texas. This family probably came to Texas about 1845.

In 1874 Texas created Lee County with a portion of Washington County that included the Old Evergreen community. All that is left of the comuniuty is the Old Evergreen Cemetery
