Buck Searcy West, member of a prominent pioneer Texas family, died Monday at his home, 102 Mt. Erin Pass. He was 86.
His father, Ike West, and his uncle, Sol West, were well known in the cattle industry. His uncle, George West, founded the South Texas town which carries that name.
Buck West spent his life as a rancher. He ended his career in 1967 when he sold his ranch at George West in Live Oak County and retired to his home in San Antonio.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Porter Loring Mortuary. Burial was in Alamo Masonic Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tommie Scott West; a daughter, Mrs. Clay West Head; a sister, Mrs. Clay West Burns; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Scott West Olson, all of San Antonio.

Clay Searcy West Head was the daughter of Buck Searcy West and Mary Tommie Scott. She married Thomas Benton Abbey, Jr. on 18 Feb 1931 in San Antonio and moved to Webb, Mississippi where he was from. They had one known daughter, Scott West Abbey. Marriage ended in divorce.
On 26 Dec 1967 she married Samuel D. Head and they divorced on 11 Sept. 1974 in Bexar County, Texas.
