EDGAR HENRY WEST: 4 Oct 1918 --- 31 Dec 1986
Edgar H West, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday afternoon in St Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev Leroy Bauman of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church Military Services will be conducted by American Legion Hanford Post 5. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Memorial Home on Friday or at the chapel on Saturday. The casket wil be closed before the services. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Edgar West was born 4 Oct 1918 at Manchester (s/o Otis 'Roy' and Ruth M Tharp West), and married Louise Trimble on 20 Dec 1945 at Anamosa. Louise died January of 1986. Mr West retired from the Unistep Co of Hiawatha and was a member of American Legion Hanford Post 5, He served in the Army during WWII.
Survivors include a son, Gene of Cedar Rapids; 4 sisters: Velma Mattson of Maquoketa; Ruth Balster of Marion; Jean Roman & Nan Coppess both of Cedar Rapids; 4 brothers: Roy of Ravenna, Ohio; Bob of Davenport; Bill of Rowley & Darel of Onslow; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
