His last residence was in Pendleton, Madison County, Indiana. With the date of death missing on the gravestone, it is not certain that he is buried here. His gravestone is beside the graves of Xury and Sarah West, who would have been his grandparents. He was an instructor at Mahnomen High School. It indicated that his mother was dependent upon his support. He was single. He had been a musician in the Purdue military band. He had been a corporal in the National Guard in North Dakota.
In 1930, he was living in Danville, Indiana with his mother, Dora, and sister, Maree. His mother and his sister were both widowed. Irvin was single.
