OCR text: The St. Louis Star and Times Location: St. Louis, Missouri Issue Date: Thursday, April 6, 1939 Funeral services for Samuel Harris West, prominent St. Louis attorney who died of a heart attack at his home at 58 Arundel place, Clayton, last night, will be held at 3 p. m. tomorrow at the residence. The Rev. William B. Lampe, pastor of the West Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services. Mr. West, who was 75 years old, complained of feeling ill at 9 o'clock last night. He was stricken while preparing to retire at 11:45 o'clock and was pronounced dead by a physician who was summoned. A month ago Mr. West suffered from an attack of acute indigestion for about ten days but recovered sufficiently to attend to his law practice. He spent yesterday in his office in the Federal Commerce Trust Building. Mr. West was born In Washing ton County, in 1863 and came to St. Louis with his wife, the former Miss Audrey Davies, in 1889 to accept a position on the legal staff of the St. Louis Southwestern (Cotton Belt) Railroad. A few years later he became gen eral counsel for the railroad, a position he held until 1915. when he resigned to enter the private practice of law. In addition to his widow. Mr. West is survived by three grandchildren living in Hollywood, Cal. They are children of a son, Davies West, who died about four years ago. Until the funeral the body will be at the Alexander Sons' Funeral Home, 6175 Delmar boulevard. Following services at the home tomorrow the body will be taken to Fay-etteville, Ark for burial Saturday.

Samuel H. West, member of a prominent pioneer family of this section, a family for whom Westville was named, died at his home in St. Louis last Thursday. Mr. West was 75 years of age at the time of his death. The West family formerly owned quite a lot of the land lying east of this city and this section was formerly known, we are told, as West Prairie and at the naming of the town this question figured in called it Westville.
Mr. West was for many years an attorney for the Frisco railroad. The body was brought to Fayetteville, Ark., Saturday for burial beside the body of his son, Sam D. West, a former prominent business man of this city.

Samuel H. West, member of a prominent pioneer family of this section, a family for whom Westville was named, died at his home in St. Louis last Thursday. Mr. West was 75 years of age at the time of his death.
