Abigail, as the 2nd wife of John West, was indeed the sister-in-law of young Jane West. Also note that Grace Lewis was the parent of the Elizabeth Lewis who married Jane's brother Robert. John was the son of Samuel Walker West and Margaret Cooper and the husband of (1)Betsey Jane Fish and (2) Mary Jane Robinson.
At age 20 with his family, he came across the plains in the Harry Walton/Garden Grove Company. They left the outfitting post at Kanesville, Iowa [present day Council Bluffs] on 17 May 1851 and arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah about the 25th of September 1851.
John married Betsey Jane Fish on 19 May 1854 in Parowan, Utah. His five children with Betsey Jane were Elizabeth Jane, Margaret Hannah, John Anderson, Jr., Horace Erastus and Sarah Anna plus he and Betsey took in an Indian boy named Manet. He and Betsey later divorced.
John married Mary Jane Robinson with whom he had 11 children: Samuel Ezra, Joseph Anderson, William Heber, Edward Moroni, Amulek Isaac, James Alma, Oliver Robinson, Mary, Robert McCord, Susan and Wilford Cooper.
John died on 28 Sept 1917 of acute obstruction of the bowels with a strangulated hernia at age 86.

MARRIAGE #1
John married Betsey Jane Fish 19 May l854 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City. Betsy was born in Quebec, Canada. Her parents were Hannah Leavitt and Horace Fish.

Betsey and John had 13 children: Elizabeth Jane, bom 9 August 1836; Margaret Hannah, 15 March 1862; John Anderson, J[unio]r, 2 September 1864; Erastus [Horace], 10 January 1868; Sarah Anna, 16 April 1869; Edward Moroni, 28 July 1871; Amulek Isaac, 17 February 1876; James Alma, 9 November 1877; Oliver Robinson, 2 November 1880; Mary, 7 September 1883; Robert McCord, 8 October 1885; Susan, 16 August 1887; and Wilford Cooper, 26 February 1890.
Margaret Hannah, Amulek Isaac, James Alma and Robert McCord died as children.
MARRIAGE #2;
John married Mary Jane Robinson 27 May 1865, also in the Endowment House. Mary was born 24 October 1848, in Little North Canyon, Davis County, Utah. Mary's parents were Susan McCord and Joseph Lee Robinson.
CHILDREN
Mary Jane and John had only three sons: Samuel Ezra, bom 25 May 1866; Joseph Anderson, 5 October 1867; and William Heber, 10 August 1869. She separated from John 20 April 1875.3 However, they were back together in 1880, in Snowflake, Apache County, Arizona.2
