A Letter found in the Lincoln, Co., Tn. Courthouse by Ricky West....

Sir please examine the records in your office and see if one Mr. Pleasant Holbert did administer for the estate of Mr. James West about Fifteen or twenty years ago and if he did further find out if you can what become of Clayton Devin and Margaret Devin his wife's interest she the wife of Clayton Devin was the daughter of the said James West and please find what the amount of mothers interest is in the estate and where it is if you can and also find out how the Administrator and his securities stands I have been informed by mother that there was a big legacy belonging to her there. I take this method of finding out whether it will pay or not to try to get her portion or not.
I am the son of the said Margaret Devin. Torn ...give me a chance at her ???? gvand per West's estate. So find out all you can about this matter and write to me as soon as you can and give me all the particulars about that estate write to Alfred H. Devin Fairplay Post Office Polk County, Missouri.
Write in haste to Alfred H. Devin and you will oblige me very much......
