The Eugene Guard Location: Eugene, Oregon Issue Date: Wednesday, March 25, 1942 WEST- George Martin west, a Lane County pioneer. died at the home of his daughter. Mrs. C. W. Hansen of Thurston. Tues. March 24. He was born in Verdin. 11.. Nov. 22. 1855. He came to Orc. by wagon train with his Elimity. Ore.. living in region since that time except for a short time in Idaho. For the past 6 years he has lived at Thurston. Three daughters and two sons survive: Mrs. C. W. Hansen; Mrs. Stella Gilliam and Mrs. Alva Toner of Washington: Miles and Albert West of Calif.: 11 grandchildren. and 3 great grand children. Funeral services in the Phil Bartholomew Chapel. Fri Mar.. 27. at 10:30. Interment in the Laurel Hill Cemetery.

He moved his family to Oregon, Idaho and settled in Whitman County, Washington. He was a deacon in the Church of the Brethren.
