Mother Dies Before Daughter Arrives From Foreign Land.
Mrs. James T. Oldham, 70, died Friday, at 10 a.m. after many weeks confinement to her home and bed. Funeral arrangements have not, and cannot be made, until the arrival of her daughter, Mrs. Lou Oldham-Parker who is racing across the Atlantic ocean from India, hoping to see her mother before she died. Mrs. Oldham was a woman of lovely character, of charming traits, an ideal wife; a most sweet and devoted mother. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Sallie A. West was born in Fayette county, Ohio, October 28, 1841. She was married to J.T. Oldham, March 17, 1870. They came to Butler county and El Dorado in 1879 and have been prominent and active in the upbuilding of this community where they are widely known and universally respected.
Two children survive her, Mrs. Albert A. Parker, with her husband a missionary in India, who was summoned a month ago and is expected to arrive here February 15, and Mrs. Alice Seymour who was with her mother at the time of her demise. Her husband also survives her.
