Joe Edgar West married Della Ruth Patterson in Sept 1923. Della was the daughter of James Louis Patterson and Sally Joe Finley Patterson. They had 2 children:

We called Joe & Della, Papa Joe and Momma Della. Joe & Della divorced in the early 1940's. Momma Della moved to Dallas and was a LVN and worked after her retirement from nursing, at The Torch restaurant in Dallas. Papa Joe had many talents. In his early years he was a bank teller. He ran an exchange at a military base in Peyote, Tx. during WWII. My father and him owned and ran a gas station in Howe, Tx after the war. Then Papa Joe opened up another business in Howe - a repair shop that he named "Joe's Fix-It Shop." Papa Joe could repair anything. Grandma Sally accidentally dropped him off the front porch when he was a baby and as a result of that he had a hunchback. He was babied as he was growing up because of the fall. He said that in his younger days he was a "hellion" because he didn't expect to live very long. He was a wonderful grandfather and thought that grandkids could do no wrong.
James Edgar West graduated from Bonham High. He served in WWII in the Army. He married Melba Jean Hays on May 1, 1947 in Bonham.
They had 2 children:
Cynthia Jo & Gloria Jean
Mom died Oct 29, 2003 in Sherman Tx at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Dad died Jan 31, 2004 at Walls Regional Hospital in Cleburne, Tx. They are buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Gardens in Sherman, Tx. Momma Della is buried next to them.
