Services for Alva West 70, of Oklahoma City, a former Shawnee resident, will be at 10 am today in Gaskill Chapel. Rev. R W Moore pastor of Independent Bible Baptist Church, will conducted services and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. West died Sunday afternoon in an Oklahoma City Hospital. He was born Aug 11, 1889, in Pauls Valley and lived in Shawnee for a number of years before moving to Oklahoma City 40 years ago. A retired chef, he was a former member of the Elks lodge. His wife, Mrs. Pearl West, died in 1922.
Surviving him are a brother: Clyde W West of Oklahoma City, five sisters: Mrs. Jessie Dix of Clinton Ark., Mrs. Fay Evans, Miss Edith West and Mrs. Euncie Townsend all of Dallas and Mrs. Iva Washburn, 524 North Bryan and a number of nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Ben Washburn, Clyde West Jr., Ernie Evans, Eldred Smith, Joe Monkres and Sonny English.
