Joshua “Jack” Cottingham West IV passed away in his home Wednesday May 2nd, 2018. He was born June 4, 1942 in Suffolk, VA and was a lifelong resident of his beloved town. He was predeceased by his parents Joshua C. West III and Frances H. West, sister, Sherwood Sackett, and grandson Mason Joshua West. He was a proud Marine and served five years in the Reserves. He exemplified the courage of a warrior in his 33 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He graduated from Old Dominion University and a KA Fraternity member. Jack retired from Merrill Lynch, founded Hampton Roads Financial, LLC with his son, and worked there until his passing.
He is survived and adored by his wife and best friend of more than 50 years Barbara L. West, daughter Tara W. Allen (Kerry), son Joshua C. West V (Katie), two grandchildren Sarah and Cooper, his loving sister Ginger W. Owen (Bill); mother-in-law, Ethel Lewis, a devoted sister in law Mary L. Day (Richard) and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
