Wm. "Fred" West, 93, of Jones Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Landsun Health Services Center.
"Fred" West was born July 13, 1920 in Carlsbad, NM to Claude C. and Mamie M. (Carver) West. He was a lifelong resident of Carlsbad. He was a lifetime member of the Methodist church and a member of BPOE Elks for 69 years. On October 31, 1941 he married Helen Magby in Carlsbad, NM in the Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on December 6, 1972. He later married Bessie Haynes in 1973 and she preceded him in death in 2011. Fred owned "West Food Store" in numerous locations in Carlsbad. He worked for the State of New Mexico for 23 years with the Employment Commission. He liked gardening and ranching. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives; 2 great-grandchildren: Scott Mathews, Kenzie Beeman; brothers: Clifford West, Johnny West and sister, Elizabeth Bird.

Dick was born December 4, 1928 to Jesse Christopher West and Lillie Bell Keynon West in Carlsbad, NM.
He served in the Army and he was a sergeant when he was honorably discharged. He gave his life to Jesus August 1955 and he married Glenda Yvonne Shahan August 20, 1955. He was a retired potash miner and farmer. He enjoyed camping and fishing and his dogs and cats especially Lord Chumlee. He was a member of the Otis Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his three brothers, J.C. West, Bud West, Don C. West, his three sisters, Velma L. Carpenter, Virginia Paul, Betty McCullough, his daughter Memory Gay Parrish and his mother and father in law Glenn and Polly Shahan.
He is survived by children: Richard G. West and wife, Rachel, Randy L. West and wife, Mona; son-in-law Roger Parrish; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ennis and Shirleen Brooks and Allan and Phillys Shahan; grandchildren: Kristie Hill, Cindy Michaels, Grace Ibis, Tyler Parrish, Tom West, Mike West, Chris West, Jessica Herndon, Ricardo (Richard) West, Melissa West, Miranda Powell, Randel West II and Damion West; 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
