Arnold K West, 78, of American Fork passed away Monday, April 6, 2015. He was born on February 7, 1937 in Stockton, Utah to William Isaac and Josephine Luvisa Carrell West. He was the fifth child of six.
He attended schools in Stockton and Tooele. He later enlisted in the Navy on September 7, 1954 where he served in the South Pacific, Korean conflict where he held the rank of TM3 on the USS Taussig DD746 until December 27, 1957. Upon returning he married his sweetheart Mary Helen Nerdin on March 8, 1958 in Evanston, Wyoming. Together they had four children.
Arnold loved being outdoors and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Mary Helen, their children, 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

He was born June 7, 1922, in Ashton, Idaho. He was in the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II and later worked as a smokejumper for the U.S. Forest Service. In 1946 he married Darlene West in Mackay, Idaho, where they lived until moving to Alaska in 1953. They were later divorced.
For a short time he worked for the Jonesville Coal Mine. He then worked for the City of Anchorage in the Public Works department until ill health forced him to retire in 1972. He moved to his Kenai River cabin where he resided until December 1987, when he moved to Anchorage to live with his son.'
He leaves his daughter, Doris A. Stackhouse of Palmer, his sons, Jerry M. of Anchorage and Samuel T. of Barrow; three grandchildren, Erich Schnell of Palmer and Billy and Nichole Sparkman of Barrow. Also surviving are his sister Anna Jane Kimball of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and his brother Homer of Las Vegas, Nevada.
