Harold West a former Whitley County sheriff died of a heart ailment on Tuesday at his home on Walnut Street in Williamsburg He was 77 Mr West a Republican was sheriff from 1970 to 1973 and again from 1982 to 1985 He lost a bid for Whitley County judge in 1973 He also lost a bid for a third term as sheriff in 1985 the first year that Kentucky sheriffs were allowed to have consecutive terms He was a Kentucky State Police trooper in the 1950s and 1960s Mr West was born in Williamsburg and was a graduate Regular Baptist Church Mousie. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg Surviving are his wife Warda Eastin West two daughters Regi- na Willhite and Jams Traveny both of Williamsburg three sons &eg West of Burnside Stan West of Williamsburg and Donnie Wills of Sheridan hid 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Services will be at 1 pjn Friday at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm today Contributions are suggested to Main Street Baptist Church Building Fund in Williamsburg
