Storie...for five dollars...tract in Watauga Co adjlands of Thomas Nelson and the said Louisa West & it being part of the tract on which the said Louisa West & others boundary as follows Beginning on a Maple corner of the 28 acrs to a Cucumber original Corner of the {n} W 52 p to a Chestnut in the original line then S 22 p to a large Chestnut then E 52 p to the Beginning containing seven acres more or less /s/ R. Relationship to Thomas C Storie: Thomas Carrol Storie (1860-1930) was the son of Jessee Storie (1834-1863) and Louisa Green Storie. The widow Louisa married Robert Oliver West after Jessee died in the Civil War.

My precious Great Grandmother MARY CATHERINE BEACH WEST died 16 Mar 1881. She was born in 1854, so was quite young when she died, probably in childbirth. Great Grandpa ROBERT OLIVER WEST was left with, I believe, 4 young children, including my Grandmother MATTIE LENORE WEST. I'm not sure when his second marriage took place, but he married LOUISA GREEN STORY, daughter ot ROBERT GREEN. LOUISA didn't live too long, maybe just a few years after the marriage. Found her gravesite at the Hudson Oaks Cemetery in Kennedale, TX. which is not too far from my home. Maybe 15 miles. Grandpa WEST came to Texas from Caldwell Co., NC in 1888 and for five years he lived on a farm in Mansfield, Tarrant Co., TX. By 1899, he remarried to a Mrs IDA BURGESS ADAMS in Tarrant Co. That year, he purchased a small farm of thirty-one acres in Montague Co., TX. He devoted about 20 acres to a fruit orchard. This venture was extremely successful. It was in that area that my Grandfather ISAAC WARREN SMITH married my Grandmother MATTIE LENORE WEST. Why was Grandpa Isaac up there in Montague, who knows. Did ROBERT OLIVER already know my other Great Grandfather JOHN F. SMITH, whose son ISAAC was? I have no clue, but it certainly makes sense.
Later, ROBERT and IDA and their new family moved to Hooker, Texas Co., OK where it is said he discovered oil on his property. But, if that is so, it did not filter down to my family. ROBERT often visited with his daughter MATTIE and her family in Fort Worth, along with his son by MARY CATHERINE--WALTER L. WEST--who was my Grandmother's brother. One of his daughters by IDA moved to California, and returning from a trip to visit her and just outside of Hooker, Grandpa's car went off into a ditch filled with water. He was 87 years old. WALTER was with him. On the death certificate, it says he suffered from Senility, but the stress of the trip and the accident played a large part in his death. WALTER was unhurt and went on to serve in WWI.
