Ann Guthrie's notes 2009:
Solomon West was born in 1798 in South Carolina. Solomon would remain unmarried throughout his life. He was enumerated as a member of his father, Isaac Jr's, household in 1800 SC and 1820 TN, having moved with the family to Dickson County, TN. He was living with his brothers, George Russell West and John West in Henderson, TN in 1830. In 1838, the sheriff of Henderson was directed to sell 86 acres of land owned by Solomon due to debt. Solomon West originally owned the farmland upon which the Henderson County Poor House was located. In 1840, he was living in Perry County, TN next door to his father's household. By 1850, he had moved into his father's household and was enumerated in the census with the family. Solomon moved to Texas during the 1850s and died there.

My research suggests that there were 2 Solomons in that period; one remaining single and one with a family. In this tree the one remaining single is given dob of 1798.

Excerpt from the book - Henderson County by G. Tillman Stewart Source: http://genealogytrails.com/tenn/henderson/poorfarm.html
In 1851 the Henderson County Court elected A.S. Johnson, Stephen Massengill and J.S. Priddy commissioners to see that destitute county residents would be provided with food, clothing and lodging. The commissioners purchased from Absalom McGee 274 3/4 acres located three and a half miles south of Lexington for the sum of $900. This tract of land was part of an original land grant deed owned by Solomon West. Two log houses with two rooms each were constructed to provide houses for paupers.
Notes from 4-15-2024 from Kenneth West.
Soloman was reported here to never marry, other documents suggest that was not true_ My research suggest he moved from Tenn to Hinds County Ms, this county seat is Jackson Ms. Some reports have him in Jackson Al, not sure which is accurate, however, some of the children were born in MS including my Great Grandfather James West He married Sarah West in ms in 1830. He is listed on the 1830 and 1840 census in Ms. From there he went to Shreveport area and the to Texas around 1850.
